MSHA Annual Surface Miner Refresher Training is a Mine Safety and Health Administration course to retrain miners based on the Title 30 CFR – Part 46 regulations and keep them safe and healthy against workplace hazards. This package includes material that gives each student a re-introduction to complete Mine Safety Protocols. If you have already taken you initial training then you’ll need this course in your first 12 months. After taking it, you will need to repeat the course once a year to stay compliant with MSHA Part 46 regulations. This applies to contractors as well as full-time employees. The course contains all the content required by MSHA to satisfy your professional obligation

The dangers of working in a mining environment are real and ever present. Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) established their requirements that require surface miners and mining contractors to take a safety training course before working in a mine and to complete a refresher program on an annual basis.
This package, consisting of a comprehensive survey of material meets the initial training requirements specified Title 30 CFR Part 46 regulations. Designed in accordance with MSHA’s training guidelines, this online refresher program includes over 8 hours of effective mining specific training.
Who Is Required to Take the Surface Miner Refresher Training?
The MSHA Annual Surface Miner Refresher Training Package from is targeted for surface miners and contractors in nonmetal mines. It is for workers who are involved in the production of cement, granite, sandstone, slate, shale, trap rock, kaolin, marble, feldspar, and lime. MSHA Part 46 regulations dictate that surface miners who have completed the new or newly hired miner training must take at least 8 hours of refresher training within 12 months of being on the job, and annually thereafter.

After Completion of the Course
After you have completed your MSAHA Annual Surface Miner Refresher Training Package you will be able to download a certificate of completion or record of training. This MSHA-compliant document form is equivalent to MSHA’s 5000-23 form. You will need to add the name and identification number of your mine or independent contractor, as well as the name of the competent person who can verify the training you completed.
